First Ride o' the Year

Top o' the mornin' to ya... well it's afternoon now,  Happy St. Patrick's Day... Ok, I did my first bicycle ride of the year this morning, it felt really good to be out there again. I'm not saying it was easy to get these wintered legs going in circles again, but it was very enjoyable.

I made a beginning of the riding season mistake, I took my GPS with me, I waited for the satellites to communicate with the unit before I took off, but I forgot to hit the "Start" button. So I have no data and no ride statistics, which really stinks because I wanted to compare last years first ride to this years to see how they stack up.

I went over a map online and I approximate that I rode about 13 miles in the hour that I was out, so I'll use that for my bike log book. I could kick myself for that dumb rookie mistake.

It was a beautiful day out too, 46° and sunny at the start of my ride and 52° by the time I came home. So I did 13 miles towards my goal of 2011 this year. 1,198 miles to go. I might keep that goal in the same box with my other stats for quick reference.
Enjoy the day.
