I was never a big fan of Yams or Sweet Potatoes, in fact I avoided them all my life… but I kept hearing and reading about how good they were for you. Full of vitamins, lots of vitamin A, anti-oxidants, anti-inflammation ingredients , blood-sugar regulating properties… the list goes on and on. So I decided to give Sweet Potatoes another chance. I’ve been eating them 3 or 4 times a week now and have gotten used to the taste. They’re not that bad, a little mushy for my tastes, but I’ll keep eating them.
Yesterday I roasted some, I cut them into 1” wedges and tossed them in some extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled some of my favorite spices over them… paprika, freshly ground black pepper, and dried parsley. I put them on a baking sheet and baked them for 40-45 minutes… not bad. I always make extra so I have less to cook during the week.
Today I took the rest of the Roasted Sweet Potatoes and I cut up some Italian Style Turkey Sausages and heated them up together in a frying pan and voila… great meal. The brown of the sausages and the orange of the sweet potatoes made it look like a real Autumn Meal... Fall Foliage Food... I should have taken a picture of it but I didn’t think of it until now. Next time I'll take a photo. It looked great & tasted even better. I guess Sweet Potatoes will remain a staple of my diet. I still can't stand Brussels Sprouts though.
I also had a great Chest and Tricep workout. I worked out the Chest with heavy weights and less reps. 3 or 4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise. and for Triceps I did medium weights for 3 or 4 sets of 12. on Wednesday I reverse that, doing heavy weights for Triceps & medium weight for Chest. We'll see how this system works for a while.
