"A journey of a thousand miles begins from where you stand."
If the idea of getting healthy through diet & exercise seems like a daunting task to you, take it one step at a time.
“Anticipate the difficult by managing the easy”
Do one thing at a time, break your big goal into little goals and accomplish them one at a time. Always focus on the here and now. When exercising, don't focus on the whole workout, focus on the rep you are doing right now. Stay in the moment.
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be”
Visualize the way you want to be, keep the visualization in your mind. Let your old self go, release it... be the person you wish to be.“If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.”
If you do things the way you've always done them, you can't expect different results. “At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.” or
“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”
Take time to reflect, sit still, let the silt & mud settle to the bottom until your mind is like a peaceful lake, not a ripple on the surface, reflecting who you truly are. In this state is where all your answers are.
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”
Don't try and do too much at once. Trying to lose 5 lbs. a week or run a marathon, after only running for six weeks is a path to failure and probably injury. Start slowly, and increase the intensity slowly. Listen to and get to know your body and what it is telling you. “He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty”
All quotes are from the "Tao Te Ching" by Lao-tzu
